The basics
-
Click on '+ New template' in the top right corner.
-
Give each template a unique name per language and then drag the InDesign zip file into the dropzone and click 'Create template'. As a result, the InDesign package is immediately uploaded and converted to Marvia servers.
-
Upon completion of the conversion, you will receive an e-mail informing you that your template is ready for setup. Another hint that the template is ready is the fact that the status has switched from 'Converting' to 'Inactive'.
Conversion notifications
When the conversion is successful, you will see the following notifications:
- File: IDML found in package
- Folder: Document fonts found in package
- Folder: Links found in package
InDesign labels to variables
Each variable will be automatically transformed into a Marvia Variable. Labels are pulled directly from the labels in the Indesign Package. The default values will be taken from the actual texts within the InDesign text fields. These text fields also provide us with the width and height automatically.
Next step: setting up the rules
The next step would be setting up the business rules based on all the variables. More information about this process can be found here: What types of variables are available in the Template Studio?
