Importing products

You can import product data to add new products or update existing ones.

  1. Navigate to Products.

  2. Select Actions.

  3. Select Import.

  4. In the Import products dialog:

    • Drag and drop your .xlsx file

    • Or select a file from your computer

  5. Check Update existing data if you want to update products already in your system.

  6. Select Import to upload the file.

Important: You can download an example file from the dialog to ensure your spreadsheet matches the correct format.

Pro tips for importing

  • When updating existing products, the first column product:general:uuid must include the product’s unique ID.

  • When importing new products, leave product:general:uuid empty or remove the column entirely.

  • It is not possible to update existing products and create new ones in the same file. Create two separate imports.

  • For partial updates, delete all columns except product:general:uuid and the fields you want to update. This keeps the file clean and reduces mistakes.

Handling import errors

If the system detects an issue with your import file, the upload will not continue. Instead, you will see an error report that includes:

  • The column where the issue occurred

  • The error type, for example invalid value

  • The affected rows that need corrections

Correct the spreadsheet and try the import again.

Caution: Always review the error log carefully. Small formatting mistakes can prevent the entire file from uploading.

Tips

  • Use exports as backups before performing large updates.

  • Keep custom column views consistent across your team to avoid confusion during imports.

  • Maintain a master spreadsheet of your product catalog to speed up future updates.
