How do I configure DNA images in the Template Studio?

Step 1. Access the Media variable settings

  1. Navigate to "Template Studio" and select the template you want to configure.

  2. Select the "Variables" tab and open the Media variables.

  3. Click the Media variable you want to link, for example the "Image box".

Step 2. Select the DNA variable type

The variable type defines where the image comes from.

  1. Select DNA as the Variable type.
This tells the Template Studio to pull the image from Location data rather than a file upload or DAM source.

⚠️ Important: DNA only works when the Locations module is active.

Step 3. Link the DNA variable to a Location image field

After selecting DNA, you must map the variable to a specific image field from the Locations module.

Available mappings

Template Studio field Locations field Example use case
Location Logo Logo Inserts the official store or region logo
Profile Image Profile photo Inserts the local manager photo
Location Photo Storefront Inserts a standardized image of the physical location

Note: These names are predefined but can be used for other types of images if needed.

By creating this mapping, the Template Studio automatically knows which image to retrieve from the user’s selected location and display in the template.

Step 4. Understand the user experience and system requirements

How it works for the user

  • Automatic upload
When a user generates a document, the DNA image is automatically inserted. Users do not need to upload or select an image.

  • Multiple locations
If a user is linked to more than one location, they will be prompted to choose a location before the template preview loads.

Requirements

  • The "Locations" module must be activated for DNA images to function.
